The Border Patrol is using racial profiling in such a stupidly consistent way, it would be pretty easy to set up a You Tube moment for them.
My son has been picked out of a bus by the nations finest Border Patrol agents at the Greyhound bus stop in Rochester New York-- two times in a row. The racial profiling is blatant and shameless-- the agents are entering the Greyhound bus and speaking only to people with Hispanic features. Both times now, he was the only Latino, and the only person that they even said a word to.
So, in my annoyance, I started thinking.
My idea: if we could get 20 people; half Hispanic, half non-Hispanic to ride buses without papers through the Rochester station with a short script with well-placed cameras running-- it might make for an amusing video with an impact (seeing that these days YouTube seems like the best form of protest).
This crap makes me mad-- it would be nice if we could do something about it. Is this a good idea? Or should I just take a deep breath.
